A small farm with an old soul

Fresh water.
Remarkable food.

Merritt's Farm is reclaiming a century-old stock pond to raise Macrobrachium rosenbergii—Giant Freshwater Prawns—close to the people who will eat them.

Reclaiming a purpose

A pond built to provide.

Long before “local food” became a movement, ponds like this one were practical parts of a working landscape: water, fish, food and beauty gathered in the same place.

Fed by the natural flow of Allgood Springs and connected to a tiered lake system, our pond is being returned to an agricultural purpose—thoughtfully, on a small scale, and with one particularly delicious crop at its center.
